Christmas Market Trip to Lille
Year 7 Day Visit to Lille - Friday 6th December 2019
The Languages Department would like to offer Year 7 French students the opportunity to take part in a linguistic and cultural visit to France. Lille has a traditional French Christmas market where the students will be able to practise their French and enjoy the rich cultural atmosphere. In Lille we will enjoy the market and surrounding area of the town centre and its shops. Some students might like to go on the big wheel which is usually there or visit a café.
Whilst in Lille students will be given clear instructions about the regular meeting points and times with staff and will be firmly instructed to remain in groups of at least three. Please note, as a safety measure students whose behaviour log shows that they cannot be relied upon to follow instructions will not be accepted for participation on this trip.
Your son/daughter will require his/her own passport and European Health Insurance Card. Details of these should be entered when making payment on ParentPay and your son/daughter will be responsible for them during the trip. There may be time to apply for a new passport at this stage however we would recommend that a place on the trip is requested first as they tend to go quickly and advise that in the case of the passport not coming through in time we would not be able to offer a refund unless someone else was able to fill the place.
We will be travelling by coach and ferry, leaving school very early in the morning and returning to school at around 23:00.
Cost & payment:
If your child would like to take part in this trip, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £57.00 to cover all travel costs and insurance and a small café snack such as a hot chocolate and a cake.
A more detailed itinerary will follow once all payments have been received and the places booked. We do hope that your child will enjoy this visit and benefit from this taste of French culture.
Payment should be made on the school’s ParentPay system, where you can also give consent for your child to attend the trip. If you do not have access to ParentPay, please contact the school office for a consent form.
If insufficient voluntary contributions are made then it is unlikely that the trip will go ahead. Please contact the school if difficulties with payment arise, or any other situation that could affect your child’s participation in this visit. If your child can no longer attend the trip after payment is made we will only be able to offer a refund if we can fill the place. If you would like to discuss these events further, then please do not hesitate to contact the school on email@example.com
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email only firstname.lastname@example.org, should you have any further questions which do not relate to the itinerary. Once I have a firm itinerary I will let you know.
