Year 2 Pirate Trip - Portsmouth

As we come to the end of another term in Year 2, we look ahead to our new topic entitled ‘Yoho Ahoy.' Additionally, we have planned a trip to visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on Wednesday 24th April.  During this day, children will learn all about pirate life by taking part in an exciting workshop followed by the opportunity to tour the historic Victory ship. We are sure this will be an inspiring WOW start to our topic.

A contribution of £16.50 will cover the cost of the trip, including coach travel. The trip is available on ParentPay and we encourage you to pay using the online system, although the office will continue to accept cash and cheques. Within ParentPay you will be able to give consent for your child to attend, as well as, add any medical or dietary notes that the school is not already aware of. You can give this consent on ParentPay whether or not you pay by credit/debit card – just login and find the payment item and tick the appropriate box.

Payment for the visit is voluntary, however, unless all parents who are able to do so are willing to contribute, we will be unable to fund the visit and it may have to be cancelled.  Costs for every event are calculated as near as possible to break even and non-payments or parents requesting refunds will cause events to run at a loss, which the school cannot indefinitely afford.  We would ask therefore that you accept that there will be no refunds.  If you are unable to contribute, you are invited to contact the school office, in confidence, so that arrangements can be made to cover the cost of your child’s participation.

Children in Year 2 are entitled to free school lunches and therefore will be provided with a packed lunch for the day if they normally receive their lunch from school.  If you would prefer to provide your child with a lunch from home, please contact your child’s class teacher so we can amend the number of packed lunches ordered for the trip.

Please note that children need to wear full smart school uniform.  Children will be required to carry a rucksack in which they can fit their school packed lunch, a water bottle and a rain coat in case of bad weather.

If you are available to volunteer to accompany us on this trip, please email us on athompson@chichesterfreeschool.org.uk, cwaring@chichesterfreeschool.org.uk or rupton@chichesterfreeschool.org.uk. Please be aware that you must already be DBS checked with the school and be willing to drive to Portsmouth as space on the coach is very limited. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
