Family's Charity Effort for Foodbanks
Maisie Dykes, Year 8, took up football over the summer holidays as a hobby to focus on during the current pandemic. She really enjoys it and plays for Bognor Girls Under 13's.
Over half term Maisie started a challenge of covering the distance from London to Brighton on an exercise bike.
This has now progressed.... As a family, despite mum working long hours in the NHS during Covid times and Maisie’s dad completing his nursing degree, the family wanted to consider the positives.... One of which being that they recognise they haven’t had the financial changes as many people affect by this pandemic have. So the family have decided to do a fundraising mission to raise money for food banks.
Maisie is cumulatively now doing 200km on an exercise bike and brother Thomas and Mum are running the equivalent of London to Brighton (93k) despite Mum not being able to run more than 2.5 a few weeks ago!
If that wasn’t enough, the family are doing a reverse advent calendar (selecting items each day in November) to go into a food/gift parcel to be delivered to food banks in December.
Since setting up a link the family have already raised £170 in two days.
Mum says “Whilst I am pleased we are doing something about it, I am more proud of the attitudes the children have had when engaging in it and trying to make a difference”.
We are so proud of them all and anyone wishing to donate can click on the link here:
