Music is Underway!
Music at Chichester Free School is well under way! The music department are enjoying teaching KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 students in our lovely new music suite.
Instruments such as the keyboards and new drum kits are in place, funded generously with a donation from the CFS Friends, and students are already benefiting from the use of these instruments in class, one to one lessons and a range of extra curricular clubs. We are delighted to offer students the chance to form bands and play original material in one of our exciting new clubs run by Ovation music, a Chichester based charity who champion young talent, and we look forward to lots of concerts and opportunities for our young musicians in the future. Auditions for Oliver! have been fantastic and we can’t wait to showcase the talent here as we work on the musical together with the rest of the performing arts departments.
The GCSE music class were visited by Hannah Witch this week, a talented young singer/songwriter studying at Chichester College. She delivered a great workshop on composing and writing music, during which students listened to her original work and created the start of new compositions in groups.
