National Parliament Week
During National Parliament Week, students enjoyed debating the issue of whether the voting age should be reduced from 18 to 16 years of age. Many students were eager to have a voice in elections and felt strongly that the views of younger people should be heard in national and local politics while some students remained unconvinced – citing the possible lack of understanding that teenagers may have on important issues. Many pupils signed a petition in favour of lowering the voting age. Students and staff had the opportunity to vote on the issue and we look forward to hearing the result early next week when winners of the Politics Quiz will also be announced.
