Our Governors

Our Governors

The Governing Body, chaired by Stephen King, is made up of a number of committees within the group such as Education, Resources and Marketing and each is chaired by a Governor who has experience and expertise in that area.  Full details of committee membership can be found here. We also have an army of volunteers who are making a real contribution to the success of the school.

The next Governors Meeting will be held on Thursday 26 April 2018

He has represented individuals, corporations and governmental bodies across various areas including public sector housing law, property litigation, commercial litigation, governance and regulatory issues.

Clive recognises the importance of parents having a real choice where to send their children to school and firmly believes that increased competition will be the driver for standards to improve throughout the region. She is also the Secretary of the very active Friends of the Free School PTA.

Matt strongly believes that parental involvement is a key factor in a child’s educational attainment and well being.

  • Howard Oyns

    Howard Oyns

Howard was a Governor in Crawley for five years at a very large primary school before moving to Chichester late last year. He is now a Governor at a Primary school in Chichester as well as at Chichester Free School. Prior to that he spent 28 years with IBM and had a wonderful and varied career ranging across Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance. He decided to retire early in 2010 and since then has been involved in a number of areas but the one he feels most passionate about is Education. As a child of the 60s when education was a lot different to today, he couldn’t wait to leave school and start earning money, and in the years since he has spent considerable time correcting that rather foolish move, culminating in an MBA from Manchester Business School in 1998 – better late than never!

He is so impressed with CFS, with the staff and the students and finds himself totally aligned to the aims and ambition of the School. The next few years will be very exciting for all of us involved and he looks forward very much to playing his part in that journey.

  • Joseph Appleby

    Joseph Appleby

Joseph was educated locally at West Hill Park, Titchfield and then Seaford College, Petworth before studying for his degree at the University of Plymouth. Initially starting his career at Langmead Farms then moving to run his family business – Botley Mills.

With children in both Primary and Secondary, and being a parent since the inception of CFS, he holds true the values set out by the school – Nurture, Challenge and Inspire. These values are the reason why Joseph chose to move his children here and feels very strongly that they will give CFS students an advantage over others when competing to be successful in a very demanding world.
