At CFS, our House system is a central part of everyday school life. We have four Houses, each supported by House Presidents, Ambassadors and House Heroes. Together, they inspire and motivate pupils within their House and play an active role in interHouse competitions and events.
Our four Houses are:
- Aquila
- Noctua
- Pegasus
- Phoenix
Every pupil and member of staff is allocated to a House when they join the school. Where possible, siblings are placed in the same House to encourage a sense of family loyalty – and to reduce any friendly rivalry on Sports Day! Being part of a House family helps pupils and staff to develop team spirit, pride and a strong sense of belonging.
At the heart of our House system lies the school vision: Nurture, Challenge, Inspire. Through participation in House activities, we encourage our children and young people to:
- Engage in a diverse range of activities
- Take part in healthy competition
- Develop a strong sense of community
- Show compassion and respect for others
Each pupil wears a House tie to show their House affiliation. In the Secondary phase, tutor groups are organised by House, and regular House celebrations are held. These celebrations are run vertically, bringing together a selection of pupils from Year 2 to Year 9. This approach helps to break down barriers between year groups and encourages older pupils to support and mentor younger members of the school community.
A wide range of House events take place throughout the year across all phases of CFS. This ensures that every pupil has the opportunity to represent their House in activities they enjoy or excel in. Events include sports competitions, art challenges, cookery contests, gardening, playground games, and activities designed and led by pupils themselves. Staff lead by example and participate alongside pupils in these events.
All pupils can earn House points, which form a key part of our wholeschool reward system. Points are awarded for achievements such as good work, positive contributions in lessons, showing community spirit and taking part in House competitions. Pupils can also gain House points each week for demonstrating positive behaviour or going the extra mile.
Our annual wholeschool Sports Day also contributes to the overall House points total and involves all pupils.
At the end of the academic year, House points are totalled, and one House is awarded the overall House Cup.

That’s it! House events and points are complete and a huge well done to everyone who has joined in, earning those vital points for their Houses. There have been some brilliant events over this term and it’s been wonderful seeing pupils collecting House points and joining in with events such as bake off linking in with the 10 Year anniversary of our school, Give for Good charity meal and Charity Week. We also had our Sports Day events in Secondary where all House points went towards the House Cup. House conduct has improved in leaps and bounds and the whole House Team have been impressed with the amount of House points gained by each of the Houses and have seen a fantastic final push.
This year pupils have taken part in many events, community projects and charity work. All pupils should be congratulated on the amount of hard work they have put in and the effort shown to represent their Houses in the best light.
