Year 6 Visit to Junior Citizen – Learning About Community Safety
Year 6 had a fantastic and informative morning attending the Junior Citizen event at Goodwood on Friday where they took part in a range of engaging activities focused on staying safe in the community.
The children worked alongside professionals from the fire service prevention team, local police officers, paramedics, railway staff, the internet safety team and the local waste management team from Chichester. Through a variety of role plays and practical activities, pupils gained valuable, real-life skills.
They learnt how to perform CPR, how to reduce fire risks in their homes by keeping bedrooms safe, and the importance of keeping personal information private online. They also explored the dangers of railways and why it is essential to stay away from tracks. In addition, pupils discovered how to dispose of food waste correctly and the role they play in keeping their community safe and clean.
The morning was both educational and enjoyable, giving pupils the confidence and knowledge to make safer choices in everyday life.
A huge thank you to all the organisations involved for delivering such a worthwhile and memorable experience for our Year 6 pupils.
