CCF Exercise - Autumn Shakedown
CCF Exercise: Autumn Shakedown
Captain Cook and Lieutenant Harris led the cadets on their first proper exercise on an army training area for the first time on Saturday 23rd October 2021.
On Hankley Common, Surrey, the cadets recapped and used their skills of cammo and concealment, section formations, hand signals and why things are seen. We then patrolled out on to the training area. Once in situ, the cadets cooked their first set of ration packs (the same as used by the army) whilst chatting to local dog walkers and members of the cadet training team about their time in the CCF at CFS. After lunch, the cadets patrolled deeper into the area before setting up a snap ambush ensuring the enemy had not followed them. Once the area was secure, the cadets then occupied a patrol harbour area, setting up bashas ready to sleep in. Before departing the area, we took a small detour to visit an Atlantic Wall built by the Canadian army to practice for D-Day landings towards the end of World War 2.
