Forest School is Launched
We are excited to launch our very own on-site Forest School this term here at CFS. The Forest School is situated outside the Convent Walls within the school boundary, surrounded by beautiful trees. We have our very own bell tent where the children read stories, can shelter from the rain and use it as a creative but calming space. The children toast marshmallows over the fire pit using sticks that they have whittled and we even have 2 compostable toilets!
As a School we have always offered Forest School to KS1 pupils but it has been off site which involves minibuses and time to travel. It’s taken a lot of hard work by our Assistant Principal, Mrs Hayes and the whole site team to develop the area but we are so proud that we have this facility within our school grounds.
Currently, our KS1 pupils visit The Forest School every week for a morning or afternoon, come rain or shine where they are led by Jennifer Keil, Forest School expert based with Woodland Wonders. The topic work the pupils study in class is brought into the Forest but then explored in other ways. This term the focus has been on developing the site as a whole and giving the children freedom to explore this amazing space.
Looking ahead, we will also be offering outdoor learning experiences in our Forest School for pupils in KS2 and the Secondary phase of the School.
