Lord Lieutenant Award
On Tuesday 28th October 2025, our CCF Contingent Commander, Captain Cook and his family attended His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenants of West and East Sussex Awards Ceremony at Lancing College. For those of you at our Prize-Giving ceremony back in July, you will be aware that Captain Cook was nominated for and his nomination was accepted for His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant's Meritorious Service Award for West Sussex by our Executive Principal Mrs New and our School Staff Instructor Lt. Hicks. This award was instituted in order to afford public recognition to those members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose efforts are not recognised by the twice-yearly Honours List. The Lord-Lieutenant's Certificate thus ranks second to The King's Honours List. It was an amazing evening set in the lovely Chapel of St. Mary and St. Nicholas. Captain Cook was the first up to receive this award and felt both very proud and honoured to be receiving this prestigious award.
He said 'it has been my privilege to guide and support the cadets in our contingent over the last 8 years. Receiving this award and recognition of the work I have undertaken is such a great honour. It has been very humbling to also hear about the work of the other amazing Cadet Force Adult Volunteers here tonight and also that of the cadets across East and West Sussex. This award is a heartfelt moment of pride for myself, the school and my family.
As I said back in July when I heard that I would be receiving this award, the impact I and my team of adult volunteers have had on our cadets since 2017, growing from a small contingent of 15 cadets to where we are now - a strong army section with over 110 cadets and supporting a junior partner school in Great Ballard is staggering. Seeing our cadets learning, growing, achieving and believing in themselves because of what we do, that is a privilege and great honour also'.
Congratulations to Captain Cook on his award.
