Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Team Triumphs on 58km Expedition Across Sussex
A determined group of young adventurers has successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) expedition, covering an impressive 58 kilometers over three days during the May Half Term break.
Starting in Cocking, West Sussex, and finishing in Ditchling, East Sussex, the team—Cooper, Fergus, Archie, Mya, and Charlotte—navigated their way through misty hills, curious herds of cows, pig farms, and the iconic Devil’s Dyke. Their journey was a true test of resilience, teamwork, and outdoor skills.
Armed with only maps, compasses, and their own determination, the group demonstrated exceptional navigation abilities. They carried all their equipment on their backs, pitched tents each night, and cooked their own meals using Trangia stoves—showcasing the self-sufficiency and spirit that the DofE Award is all about.
This expedition was a fantastic example of what young people can achieve when they work together and push their limits The team showed great camaraderie, problem-solving, and perseverance throughout the journey.
Congratulations to Cooper, Fergus, Archie, Mya, and Charlotte on this outstanding accomplishment. Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring!
