Young Chef November 2025

On behalf of Mrs Russell and everyone involved, I am delighted to share that last Thursday we hosted the area heat of the Rotary Club’s Young Chef competition—an evening that proved both inspiring and memorable.

The event brought together talented pupils from Years 7–10, each demonstrating impressive cooking skills as well as creativity, organisation, and confidence under pressure. Competitors were tasked with preparing and serving a nutritious two-course meal within just two hours, using no more than £18 worth of ingredients. We were incredibly proud to see how thoughtfully and resourcefully each entrant rose to the challenge.

The dishes produced were visually stunning, wonderfully fragrant, and tasted every bit as good as they looked. Our panel of expert judges certainly had a tough job. We were honoured to welcome the Chair of the Chichester Priory Rotary Club, two chefs from Pallant House, and last year’s highly successful CFS entrant and district winner, Fergus Miller. Fergus returned with professionalism and warmth, offering reassuring support to this year’s competitors.

Junior Category Winners:

  • 1st Place: Leah (Year 8)

  • 2nd Place: Anna (Year 8)

  • 3rd Place: Elspeth (Year 8)

Senior Category Winners (all Year 10):

  • 1st Place: Fraser

  • 2nd Place: Charlie

  • 3rd Place: Mason

These pupils now progress to the next local heat in January, where they will once again compete for the chance to secure a place in February’s district finals. We are immensely proud of all who took part and congratulate them on their dedication, creativity, and outstanding achievements.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who supported the event, to Ms Gordon for her invaluable work behind the scenes, and to Mrs Russell for organising such a successful and enjoyable evening.
